Many people contributed their research, family memories, oral histories, time and skills to this project over the last year. Only a small fraction of these stories can be highlighted on this site, but all research files are available at the Nova Scotia Museum, and have been shared with interested community museums and archives, who continue to conduct their own local research.
We have tried to compile the names of all others who have contributed to this project, in no particular order, and we apologize if we have missed anyone below! First and foremost, however, without the detailed and meticulous research of Dr. Allan Marble, and Ruth Whitehead, this project would never have come to fruition at all, and their work has shed new light on an understudied part of Nova Scotian history.
The museum would also like to thank Emily Cantwell, a GIS technician from the NSCC Centre of Geographic Sciences in Lawrencetown, NS, who spent her internship working on the data analysis and GIS mapping used here, and Matt Meuse-Dallien, the museum’s own GIS technician, who built upon Emily’s work.
