Welcome back!

The Nova Scotia Museum is pleased to welcome you back to our sites!

Since closing our museums in March, we have been working hard to find ways to connect with our visitors and share Nova Scotia’s remarkable natural and cultural heritage. We are excited to welcome visitors back to some of our museums.

We’ve been working hard to prepare our sites for your visit, however, Social Distancing isn’t always possible in all of our spaces. Public Health now recommends that all Nova Scotians wear a non-medical mask in situations where distancing is not possible such as in retail spaces, on public transit, or at gatherings. The exceptions are children under two or anyone who has a medical reason for not wearing a mask.If you are able, we strongly recommend wearing a mask when you visit our museum sites.

On July 1st, the following Nova Scotia Museums sites will be opening:

July 6

July 7

July 8

July 11

July 13

July 15

August 7

August 11

August 19

While all our sites are looking forward to welcoming visitors, some sites will require some additional time to make their facilities as safe as possible. Other Nova Scotia Museum sites will be re-opening through the month of July. We will post updates on re-openings on our social media platforms as well as on our websites.

This year’s season will be a new museum experience for everyone. Some exhibits and programs will change a bit to ensure public health guidelines can be met, and others may not be available just yet. We appreciate your patience as we work on solutions to offer content in way that keeps both visitors and staff safe.

To meet physical distancing requirements of 2 metres / 6 feet, there are capacity limits in place. Depending on the time of day, there may be a short wait when you arrive. Visitors should plan for a longer visit than usual since the experience at many sites is now one-way. Some of our smaller sites may be offering tours by appointment only at this time.

Visitors will be asked to respect public health guidance, including physical distancing and good hand hygiene. Most importantly, we also ask that you stay home if you are not feeling well -- we’ll be here to welcome you when you are feeling better.

Every museum has information on their website as a “Know before you go” guide to help prepare you for your museum experience. Please review this information before your visit, and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has changed so much in our world, but it hasn’t changed the dedication of our museum staff, who remain enthusiastic about Nova Scotia’s rich heritage and about sharing it with visitors. We look forward to seeing you this summer!
