Join us to celebrate the one and only Gus the Gopher Tortoise!

Each August, we celebrate the hatch day of Gus. This year, we are celebrating 103 years of our favourite tortoise. Drop in to walk with Gus, enjoy a cupcake, and take part in a special scavenger hunt. And be sure to sign the big hatch day card for Gus!

Schedule of events

11:00 am AND 2:00pm - official singing of "Happy Hatchday" to Gus; staff and Gus Walk (outside weather permitting), and visitors enjoy cupcakes and lemonade.

10:00 am to 4:00 pm - Drop in to create your own turtle craft in our Project Room and take part in a Gus themed scavenger hunt.

PLUS! Visit with friends from the Canadian Sea Turtle Network and Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute.
