Exploring beneath the Halifax Harbour with the Nova Scotia Underwater Council

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Halifax

Tuesday Night Talks

6:30 pm

Nova Scotia Underwater Council members share their exploration of the underwater world of Halifax Harbour. This vibrant Nova Scotian snorkeling and diving community will talk about the creatures that thrive beneath the surface, and how their world is changing.  Originally formed in 1971, and revived in 2018, the NSUC was created by representatives of the Nova Scotia dive community to preserve, support and promote diving and diver education in the province.

Alice Ortmann has been diving for over 20 years and teaches diving as a fun side gig. Whenever possible, she likes to escape to the underwater world, where there’s always a lobster, cunner or nudibranch to make her smile.

Cliff Andrews has been diving since 2004, briefly in the fresh waters of the St. Lawrence River and then the Atlantic Ocean upon returning home to Nova Scotia. Cliff looks forward to getting out for a dive any time he can for a reset after a long week and of course, to see the beautiful sites our underwater world has to offer.
