Eamonn Doorly
Maritime Museum of the Atlantic Marine Conservation Assistant
Eamonn is Marine Conservation Assistant at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, part of the Nova Scotia Museum. He has always spent his time on and around the water, paddling and building kayaks as a teenager. He soon moved on to building and sailing larger wooden boats. Now he is the museum’s boat builder and sailor. Eamonn believes there is no better way to get people excited about boats than to involve them in the restoration or building process. He cherishes his time in the boat shop. “The restoration of a boat is so much more than just about the nails and planks, it is the retelling of memories and the passing along of traditional skills.”
