March Break - Dinosaur Exploration 2
Sat. March 14 to Sun. March 22
Before extinction, dinosaurs fought to survive! Dinosaur Exploration 2 is a sequel to the hit 2024 exhibit, featuring some of your favourite dinosaurs. Visitors will discover the intricacies of an ankylosaurus’s armour, the power of Stegosaurus’s tail, and the defense of a triceratops’s frill.
Daily Highlights & Activities
- The Gus Walk (Daily at 3:00 PM): Join the museum’s most famous resident—Gus, the 103-year-old gopher tortoise—for his daily stroll and snack.
- Snack Time with Wildlife (Daily at 2:00 PM): Watch live feedings and learn about Nova Scotia’s native biodiversity.
- Learn in the Lab (Daily from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM): A drop-in session in the Nature Lab to meet critters and chat with a Naturalist.
- Plates, Horns, and Spikes (Mondays from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM): A special drop-in program exploring dinosaur defenses.
- Science on a Sphere: Interactive displays about Earth and space.

FriendSHIPS! March Break at the MMA

We’re in our FriendSHIP! era where you can craft your own colourful friendship bracelets for you and your friends, in our beautiful Small Craft Gallery!
Dress up in fun costumes and transform into a pirate or ocean creature! Enjoy this activity in the William Robertson & Son Chandlery, a heritage building that provided accessories and supplies to the fishing and shipping industries over 150 years ago!
From Ocean’s Week Canada, visitors can step into a giant ocean floor map of Canada to explore from coast-to coast- to coast! In the Small Craft Gallery, experience a downloadable 3D experience, taking you across our oceans to experience Canada’s waterways!
Check out barrel demos in the Days of Sail gallery, Warehouse Theatre films, museum tours and discovery learning stations throughout our exhibits!

During our themed days, there will be crafts throughout the site, including our one-room schoolhouse and workshop, as well as a special themed treat in Rosebank Cottage. In addition to the themed programming, you and your family can enjoy the nature trail along Lake Lawson, sled down Larder Hill (weather permitting), visit our heritage-bred animals, and refuel at the Hearth Room Café.

Step inside the human body and discover what makes it the most amazing engine in the world! The Mighty Engine is a world-first, hands-on exhibit that invites families into a learning adventure where mighty organs are your engine, health is fuel, and kindness is the road to greatness. Designed for kids ages 5–11 and their families, it’s an interactive experience full of fun, discovery, and imagination.

The Fundy Geological Museum displays an ancient world and some of the oldest dinosaur bones in Canada. Meet some of the ancient creatures that lived here millions of years ago: the world's first reptiles, early dinosaurs, giant dragonflies, an ancestor of frogs and a sow-bug-like creature as long as a baseball bat. So many great fossils!
Explore mineral treasures of Nova Scotia exposed when the great Fundy tides washed away the sea cliffs. See a collection of beautiful amethyst and agate gem stones.
Black Loyalist Heritage Centre

The Black Loyalist Heritage Centre tells the story of the world’s largest free African population outside of Africa, in the late 18th century in Nova Scotia.
Enjoy the view of Birchtown Bay when you climb up the Shaw Turret, which commemorates all Black Loyalist communities in Nova Scotia. Enter the Centre’s Lindsay Gallery and immerse yourself in the multimedia presentation of the Black Loyalist journey from Africa to the American colonies, then to Nova Scotia and back to Africa. Explore the virtual copy of the Carlton’s Book of Negroes and search for an ancestor who may have experienced part of this incredible journey.
