March Break at Ross Farm

We will be hosting our 2026 March Break programming from Saturday, March 14th to Sunday, March 22nd. Our Museum Site, The Pedlar's Shop (our gift shop), and the Hearth Room Café will be open all week long.

Our schedule includes the following events:

Tasty Treats – Saturday, March 14th

Join us for our first Tasty Treats of this year's March Break programming, where a day full of delicious experiences awaits! Indulge in rich homemade ice cream at our workshop, savour the sweet delight of pulled taffy in Rosebank Cottage, warm up with a delicious cup of hot chocolate in the Cooperage, and unleash your creativity by decorating cookies in our charming one-room schoolhouse.

Woodland Wonders – Sunday, March 15th

Join us on Sunday, March 15th, for a celebration of the woodlands and the incredible wonders they hold! In the farm workshop, you can try your hand at identifying animal scat. Treat your taste buds in Rosebank with delightful samples of homemade syrup paired with fluffy pancakes. Unleash your creativity in our charming one-room schoolhouse by crafting a whimsical cone owl. Plus, do not miss the chance to join one of our knowledgeable staff members on a guided nature walk along our scenic trail. These walks will begin at 10 am and 2 pm. As you explore the grounds, embark on a quest to discover the hidden felted birds waiting to be found.

Woodland Wonders – Monday, March 16th

Join us on Monday, March 16th, for a repeat celebration of the woodlands and the incredible wonders they hold! In the farm workshop, you can try your hand at identifying animal scat. While visiting Rosebank Cottage, try your hand at decorating a cookie. Unleash your creativity in our charming one-room schoolhouse by crafting a whimsical cone creature. Be sure to join one of our knowledgeable staff members for a guided nature walk along our picturesque trail. Walks will start at the Learning Centre and commence at 10 am and again at 2 pm. As you explore the grounds, embark on a quest to discover the hidden felted birds that are waiting to be found.

Today only, join Karen in one of her sessions at the Learning Centre from 9:30 am to 11:30 am or from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm to create an adorable cardboard-animal puppet.

St. Patrick's Day – Tuesday, March 17th

Join us on Tuesday, March 17th, for a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Dive into the hands-on excitement at the Farm Workshop, where you can unleash your creativity with leather punching. In our charming Rosebank Cottage, decorate your very own shamrock cookie and indulge your taste buds. Visit our delightful one-room schoolhouse, where you can express your artistic flair with fun colouring activities. As you wander the museum grounds, embark on a thrilling quest to hunt for the elusive leprechaun and search for shamrocks scattered throughout the museum. Once you have finished your quest, return to the schoolhouse to receive a lucky charm.

Tasty Treats – Wednesday, March 18th

Join us for our exciting second Tasty Treats Day, where you can indulge in homemade ice cream in our workshop, unleash your creativity by decorating a delightful cupcake at Rosebank Cottage, and cozy up with a rich, creamy cup of hot chocolate in the Cooperage.

Bees and Butterflies – Thursday, March 19th

Join us on Thursday, March 19th, for an exciting day dedicated to the enchanting world of bees and butterflies! In the schoolhouse, you will have the opportunity to plant vibrant milkweed that supports these vital pollinators. Learn about the mason bee and watch the craftsman create a house for mason bees. At Rosebank Cottage, unleash your creativity by decorating a bee or butterfly cookie. Do not miss out on this opportunity to celebrate nature!

Fairy Tales & Folklore – Friday, March 20th

Join us on Friday, March 20th, for a day themed around Fairy Tales & Folklore! Participate in activities that have been mentioned in fairytales or folklore! You will have to discover what story the activity is based on. You will be given a list of clues when you register at our giftshop. Do not worry if you are unfamiliar with the tales; our staff can give you plenty of clues, and you might even hear a tale or two.

Join us for the final Tasty Treats of March Break, where you can indulge in homemade ice cream in the Farm Workshop, get creative by decorating your own cookie in Rosebank Cottage, and warm up with rich, delicious hot chocolate in the Cooperage.

Easter's Coming – Sunday, March 22nd

Join us for the grand finale of our March Break programming, where you can get creative as Easter approaches! In the Farm Workshop, unleash your imagination as you make and decorate your own spin top. Over at Rose Bank Cottage, bring your artistic flair to life by decorating an Easter egg. Visit our one-room schoolhouse to create your very own unique ornament. As you explore our museum grounds, embark on a quest to hunt for the hidden rabbits that are waiting to be discovered.

During our themed days, there will be crafts throughout the site, including our one-room schoolhouse and workshop, as well as a special themed treat in Rosebank Cottage. In addition to the themed programming, you and your family can enjoy the nature trail along Lake Lawson, sled down Larder Hill (weather permitting), visit our heritage-bred animals, and refuel at the Hearth Room Café.
