Donald Og Day

July 19, 2024
Highland Village Museum, Iona

Join us as we celebrate the Donald Òg legend and the settlement of the Iona area by MacNeils from the Isle of Barra. On board a British man of war patrolling the Bras d’Or Lake following the 1758 Seige of Louisbourg, Dòmhnall Òg MacNeil brought news of the lake’s natural wonders home to his native Isle of Barra. Experience Gaelic culture firsthand, and take in demonstrations of traditional skills and food, along with a special running of Cash’s Shingle Mill. We will also be joined by our friends from the Mi’kmaq community and the Fortress of Louisbourg. Regular admission applies. 10:00am – 3:00 pm.
