Letter inviting Howe to become editor of the New York Albion, 1866 (pg 2)

Joseph Howe was against confederation. He received this letter just before Confederation which offered him a job in New York. Howe would face the dilemma of whether to leave for the US and financial ease or stay at home to assist “poor old Nova Scotia.” He decided to stay. (NS Archives MG 1 Vol. 714 #14.)
