Hide Tanning Workshop

Our first hide tanning workshop of the year will take place on Wednesday, February 25th. Hosted by Maggie Oickle from Maggie’s Way, this workshop will guide you through the essential steps of hide tanning. You will learn about the necessary tools and equipment, and get a comprehensive overview of the process, including fleshing, dehairing, various tanning methods, stretching, and smoking a hide. Discover the importance of each step, and get valuable tips and answers to all your questions.

Workshop Schedule

Morning Session: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM

    • Introduction to essential tools and equipment

    • Fleshing: Techniques for removing flesh from the hide
    • Dehairing: Methods for removing hair from the hide
    • Tanning Methods: Overview of different tanning methods (brain, egg, vegetable, commercial)
