Zoology Collection - Great White Shark Jaw

Dangerous and Endangered

These jaw bones come from a Great White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) that was caught in a fish weir near Economy, Nova Scotia. Great Whites are rarely spotted in the Bay of Fundy and are listed as endangered by the Canadian Species at Risk Act. This means that we require a special permit to hold the jaw in our collection. Look at the large triangular, serrated teeth in both the upper and lower jaws – telltale signs of this ferocious predator.
