Marine History Collection - Theodore Too Tugboat Half Model

A Half Model

“Theodore Tugboat” was a beloved children’s TV show inspired by Point Vim and Point Vigour, real life tugs of Halifax Harbour. It was produced in Halifax by Cochrane Entertainment and starred Denny Doherty, of The Mamas and The Papas fame. Doherty kept things running smoothly in the “Big Harbour” and voiced all of the characters, which were radio-controlled models. Fred Allen, the show’s talented set designer, built this half model at the height of Theodore’s popularity. It was used by naval architects to draw up plans for a full-sized promotional tug. While the show itself ended in 2001, Theodore Too still plies the waters of Halifax Harbour as a tour boat.
