Delicate Nighttime Flier
The Luna Moth (Actias luna) is fairly common in Nova Scotia, though it is seldom seen by people because of its nocturnal life. While this beautiful insect may look like a butterfly, its feathery antennae are a dead giveaway. It’s definitely a moth – one of the largest in North America. With its pale, lime-green wings and delicate swallow tail, this ephemeral creature of the night has become a favourite at the Nova Scotia Museum.
